Description and Uses

Acer sikkimense (Sikkimense maple) is a temperate tree from Himalaya. The crop is harvested by total removing. It starts flowering after 7 - 9 years. After 30 years the tree can be totally removed as it reached its commercial and ecological goal. Acer sikkimense has a lifespan of 50 years.


Environmental limitations

Acer sikkimense thrives in an altitude of 0 to 2000 meters above sea-level (temperate). The minimum temperature is -11°C and optimally between 11 - 25°C. The optimal rainfall is 1700 mm/year. Without irrigation the annual rainfall should be between 800 - 1800 mm (L/m²).
