Enterolobium cyclocarpum (Ear pod tree) is a tropical tree from Mexico. It is mainly grown for its conservation crops (n/a shelflife), but also

It is very fast growing and tolerates not less light than full sun. Enterolobium cyclocarpum has a shallow root-system and forms symbiotic relations
(endo-mycorrhiza). It is able to fix nitrogen with Microbacteriaceae bacteria. The tree`s flower-morphology is hermaphroditic and is pollinated by itself.Enterolobium cyclocarpum thrives in an altitude of 0 to 1200 meters above sea-level (tropical). The minimum temperature is 8°C and optimally between 23 - 28°C. The optimal rainfall is 2000 mm/year. Without irrigation the annual rainfall should be between 750 - 2500 mm (L/m²). The optimal soil-pH is between 5.0 - 8.0 in a soil texture of all. To salt it is a bit tolerant to wind and to fire .
