Description and Uses
Diospyros blancoi (Mabolo) is a
tropical
tree from
Malaysia & Indonesia . It is mainly grown for its
timber crops
, which have a
long shelf life. The crop is harvested by
hand picking. It starts flowering after
6 -
7 years. The yield will be
30 kg/tree, but in its top season there will be a yield of
60 kg/tree. Other crop types include;
fruit, medicinal, oil, repellent pesticide, timber, . The
fruit is used as
minor food . The
shoot is used as "

cold pressing from the
tree's

tree's growing speed is
moderate, it's energetic value is
4400 ckal/kg and the wood's drying speed is
fast. After
40 years the
tree can be totally removed as it reached its commercial and ecological goal.
Diospyros blancoi has a lifespan of
80 years.
Environmental limitations
The tree is
16 meters tall with a crown of
15 meters wide. The
tree prefers a planting distance of
600 cm and a row distance of
600 cm. It is
moderate fast growing and
intolerant to shade.
Diospyros blancoi has a
deep root-system and it has symbiotic associations with the
Acaulospora longula and Acaulospora scrobiculata and Acaulospora tuberculata and Claroideoglomus geosporum and Funneliformis etunicatum and Gigaspora candida and Gigaspora ramisporophora and Glomus albidum fungi
(endo-mycorrhiza). It is
not able to fix nitrogen with

Seed Propagation
Seeds are
