There are many new planted and also elder trees in the region. Most of them have no seeds, or finished their season. Mostly the mountain areas near Jerusalem are a bit later. I remember the Carobs in Jerusalem are the most tasty ones. But this one I didn't try. The good thing about this tree is that it has a very high yield, the seed pod is thick/fruity, which is good for consumption, no pests or diseases seen, it has been labeled, so it might have a heritage. I prepared about 40 seeds, but I have more. It's only a bit effort to process. The seeds germinate easily after soaking them overnight in hot water. But, they first need to be stored in dry conditions for 1-2 months. They can be stored for several years. The tree does not tolerate waterlogged soils. It grows in the Mediterranean climates, South Africa, South Australia, and the arid part of Venezuela. In Kenya it might grow very well in the arid parts of Makueni and Kitui. However, in the rainy seasons it might waterlog. The roots are extremely deep rooted and it fixes a bit nitrogen.
